Northwestern women beat Wisconsin 68-63 in Big Ten 1st round

   INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Lindsey Pulliam scored 24 points, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah had 13 points and nine rebounds and Northwestern beat Wisconsin 68-63 on Wednesday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.

   Pulliam led the way for Northwestern in the first half with 18 points as the Badgers struggled, scoring just 22 points on 8-of-33 shooting (24 percent). Pulliam, a freshman with a season-high of 33 points, was 7 of 9 from the field before halftime and finished 9 of 15.

   Abi Scheid added 14 points and Bry Hopkins 11 for Northwestern (12-19, 4-12), which has won eight of the last nine in the series dating to 2013.

   The 12th-seeded Wildcats will play in the second round on Thursday against No. 5 seed Iowa.

   Cayla McMorris led 13th-seeded Wisconsin (9-21, 2-14) with 22 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Fredrickson added 12 points and Marsha Howard had 11 points and four steals. The Badgers were just 3 of 16 from distance.
