Northwoods League umpire tragically dies in car crash

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- According to an official press release, a Northwoods League umpire has tragically passed away in a car crash early this morning.

Police say the victim's name is Conor McKenzie.

There were two other umpires in the car with him. They are in stable condition.

McKenzie joined the Northwoods League in 2019 and worked nearly 350 games during his time there.

McKenzie was scheduled to ump the game between the Madison Mallards and the Wausau Woodchucks.

The Northwoods League will honor McKenzie with a moment of silence before tomorrow night's games.
