Oak Creek police investigating possible utility worker scam

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Oak Creek Police Department is investigating a possible utility worker scam.

Oak Creek police received a complaint that two unknown men approached a home and identified as local utility company employees.

The men were not wearing any identifying utility company clothing, and they were driving a newer white pick-up truck with no markings.

According to police, one suspect tried to lure the residents outside of the home while the other suspect was out of sight. When the homeowner secured the door, the suspects left immediately.

Oak Creek police say that they were advised that no utility company employees were in that area during that time frame.

Police are reminding residents that if approached, do not let strangers into your home until you can verify identity, and to contact the police department.
