MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A former teacher and coach convicted of having sex with a student will spend the next 11 years in prison for having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Michael Jossie was tearful as he apologized to the victim and the victim’s family.
He was a special education teacher and basketball coach at Oak Creek High School. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault in exchange for having a second count dismissed. Jossie was arrested in October after a school custodian walked in on him with a student in his classroom.
The judge says Jossie’s actions damaged the entire community.
“There is no justification for my disturbing actions. I take full responsibility for my involvement in this relationship and regret hurting the victim and everyone along the way. I will never ask for forgiveness as I will never be able to forgive myself,” Jossie said during his sentencing.
Jossie also received eight years extended supervision. He also has to register as a sex offender.
