Officer cleared in fatal shooting of Mequon man
MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A decision has been made in a deadly officer-involved shooting in Mequon.
An officer was cleared of all charges after a man was shot and killed during a stand-off.
The state Department of Justice released drone video from the May 17 shooting. It shows the large tactical response on Bonniwell Road.
Officers had the home surrounded after a gunman, identified as Pietro La Licata, fired on police.
Authorities were first called to the scene because a neighbor said La Licata shot at him while the neighbor was mowing his lawn.
Investigative documents detail La Licata's history of domestic incidents and run-ins with neighbors, all involving firearms.
Mequon police say the officer who shot and killed La Licata will return to patrol duties this week.
