Officer struck by vehicle in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBs 58) -- A Kenosha police officer is out of the hospital on Friday, Jan. 26, after being hit by a car. 

It happened around 6:00 a.m. near 63rd and Sheridan Road. 

Police say the officer was opening stop signs attached to a traffic light pole after they lost power from a crash a few blocks away. 

The driver involved stayed at the scene and is cooperating, but he will likely be cited. 

The officer is a 4-year veteran of the Kenosha Police Department. 

As a result of the accident, the intersection was closed for approximately three hours.
