OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- EAA CEO and Chairman Jack Pelton addressing media one day after four died and two others were hurt in different crashes involving three aircraft.
The first happened just after 9 a.m. when a T6 Texan went down in Lake Winnebago.
Officials have identified the two on board as 30-year-old Devyn Reiley of Guadalupe, Texas, and 20-year-old Zach Collie Moreno.
Divers were able to recover one body but are still searching for the other.
The second happened just before 12:30 in the afternoon, with a helicopter and a gyrocopter colliding mid-air.
The two aboard the helicopter both died while the two on the gyrocopter were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials say the pilot was 69-year-old Mark Peterson of Foley, Alabama, and the passenger was 72-year-old Thomas Volz of Amelia, Ohio.
“Every year if there’s an event or not, we have debriefs and we always are learning from every year, and we are always refining and making changes," said Pelton.
We are still waiting on the names and ages of the two victims injured inside of the gyrocopter.
At their last update, they were stable.
