Old Boston Store at Brookfield Square to be torn down
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- If you shop at Brookfield Square, you've seen the empty old Boston Store building on the north end of the mall.
Irgens, the company that owns the mall, just received a permit from the city of Brookfield to tear the old store down.
The building has been vacant since 2018. The demolition is expected to start next month, and the rest of the mall will stay open during the project.
The owners are working on plans to redevelop the site, but those plans are still being finalized.
“This is an exciting first step in a new future for the old Boston Store location,” said City of Brookfield Mayor Steven Ponto “We look forward to continued discussions with Irgens about how reimagining this site can further strengthen our community’s efforts to be all that it can be.”
