Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responds to overturned kayak in Lake Michigan
OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office was called to an overturned kayak in Lake Michigan near the Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve in the Town of Grafton around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Deputies located the partially submerged kayak in Lake Michigan at the north end of the nature preserve.
The kayak was found to be unoccupied and towed to shore.
During the investigation, an inflatable dinghy boat which had detached from a larger boat was found floating unoccupied near the Nature Preserve. The owners of the dinghy boat were identified and found to be safe.
There was no report of any swimmers or boaters that were in distress at anytime.
The Ozaukee County Emergency Management Rescue Boat, Grafton Fire Department, Port Washington Police Department, and the US Coast Guard assisted with this incident.
