Packers defeat Saints 20-10 in second preseason game

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Packers have defeated the Saints 20-10 at Lambeau Field in their second preseason game.

Jordan Love got the starting nod once again tonight and he wasted no time in the passing game.

These first two preseason games, you could tell how much Love has worked on his fundamentals. He looks more comfortable in the passing game and there weren't many times where he panicked in the pocket.

On top of that, Love showed off his mobility early with a strong run to start the game. He finished the first half going 9/16, 93 yards and a touchdown, while recording a 94 QB rating. That touchdown pass? Rookie receiver Romeo Doubs showed off his hands and athleticism with an impressive 4-yard catch in the endzone.

To finish the night, Love went 12/24, 113 yards, a touchdown and a 77.3 QB rating.

As for the run game, Tyler Goodson wasted no time getting things going. Like last week, he was utilized in the passing game throughout the night. To put Goodson's pass-catching skills into perspective, he recorded 565 yards and a touchdown, while averaging 8.1 yards per reception in his three years at Iowa.

Saints kicker Wil Lutz nailed at 57-yard field goal in the first quarter to make it a 3-3 game.

Devonte Wyatt started this week after being out against the Niners. He wasted no time showing off his talent early in the first quarter. Wyatt was a run stuffer at Georgia, and that is just what he did early.

The rest of the defense forced two consecutive turnovers in the first half. The first one was a fumble recovery by Shawn Davis and the other was an interception by former USFL player Micah Abernathy, who was just signed by the Packers last week.

The Saints scored their first touchdown of the night with a pass to rookie receiver and former Ohio State Buckeye Chris Olave.

Love started out the second half struggling a bit, but slowly started to get back in the groove after a strong first half.

As for the special teams, a key area of struggle last season, they just couldn't find their groove tonight. That all started with a strong kick return by Kirk Merritt.

Danny Etling entered the game for the Packers with just under 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. He showed off his mobility last week and he did it again this week with a 51-yard touchdown run. Oh yeah! He did that during an interview with Aaron Rodgers! Pretty cool moment!

This will be the only preseason game played at Lambeau Field this season. Next week, the Packers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
