DELAVAN, Wis. (CBS 58) – The Packers Tailgate Tour made an unexpected stop in Delavan Friday morning.
Current and former players including Blake Martinez and Ty Montgomery along with president Mark Murphy, surprised around 750 students at Delavan-Darien High School.
The group stopped at the school to talk with students and offer advice.
“My biggest message to everybody is that no matter what you do in life whether it’s being a mailman, professional athlete or gymnast, being whatever you want to think of, believe in yourself and you can achieve anything no matter what,” Martinez said.
Students said they were very surprised but excited to see some of their favorite players.
“Seeing those guys that you look up to, watching on Sunday or whatever day, just seeing them is pretty cool,” senior Dakota Williams said. “It’s an honor honestly.”
The Packers organization donated $2,000 to the high school’s physical education program.
This is the 13th year the Packers Tailgate Tour has traveled around the area to meet with fans. The tour is stopping in Milwaukee on Friday night at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
The last stop of the Tailgate Tour will be on Saturday in West Bend.
