MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Despite the excitement inside the RNC perimeter, some businesses have expressed their frustration about Milwaukee hosting the convention.
For example, Penzeys Spices has been outspoken about their political views for many years, often sharing content on social media, criticizing the GOP.
For the RNC, Penzeys hung a sign in their window, reading "Welcome Future Fake Electors."
Brian Jacobsen, a finance instructor at Marquette University and a chief economist, says there has been an increase in small businesses making their political views known.
But the drawback is alienating other clients, and potentially employees.
"So that's a business decision that they have to make, that they value being able to express themselves, use that Facebook page, use that business as a platform for expressing their political views, but it does come at a cost," said Jacobsen.
While many small businesses choose not to share their beliefs, Jacobsen says another undeniable benefit is publicity, good or bad, as taking a strong stance can put a spotlight on a business.
