ELM GROVE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Students and faculty at Pilgrim Park Middle School in Elm Grove gathered for an Assembly Monday morning. The state superintendent was there with a surprise announcement for one of the teachers.
Allison Urban, an eighth-grade special education teacher, is one of five teachers honored as 2026-27 Teacher of the Year in Wisconsin.

Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly says Urban was chosen for her commitment to an inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
"I thought it was going to be a typical Monday," Urban said. "I was like, this is gonna be a good day but not expecting anything like this."
"Just to be able to see the joy in the students when they know it's one of their teachers, or even just the suspense when you say I'm here and one of them's here in this room, and the students get really excited," Dr. Underly said.
Along with a nice bouquet of flowers, Urban will receive a $3,000 award from the Herb Kohl Foundation.
