PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Since 2000, Anne Holmes has been putting on the Midwinter Gaming Convention. Over the last 25 years, it's grown to thousands of gamers in one place. There will be play-to-win games and guests are also welcomed to bring their own to play.

"We have almost a thousand games scheduled," said Holmes. "Live action, role play, tabletop role playing games, miniatures. You name it--if it is not digital, we probably have an event for it here."

Holmes started the convention to give everyone a place where they feel like they fit in.

"It came together because I was at a gaming store, and I saw a little 8-year-old boy wearing a Darth Vader helmet with a bumper sticker that says, 'life hurts, get a helmet.' And my heart went out to him, and I thought, 'little guy, you have no idea how much life can hurt for a nerd,'" said Holmes. "I want to make a safe space for you to be able to be all the geek that you are with everybody else and have a fantastic time."

The convention is four days long from Thursday through Sunday. It will last until midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and close at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
