Pleasant Prairie police respond to Dairy Queen for suspicious and hazardous device
CBS 58 PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Pleasant Prairie police say there is no ongoing threat to the community after locating a hazardous device near the entrance of Dairy Queen on Friday, May 15.
Officials responded to the business along 75th Street at around 8:14 p.m.
Officers say when they arrived, they located the device in an area that posed a potential threat to people and surrounding businesses.
Out of an abundance of caution and safety, several nearby businesses were evacuated and a portion of 75th Street was shut down during the investigation.
Members of the Kenosha County Bomb Squad evaluated and safely neutralized the device so its contents could be examined.
The device was ultimately believed to be non-hazardous and not a threat to the community.
Officials say at this time, the incident appears to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing.
