MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 30-year-old woman was injured in a shooting that happened around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday evening near 49th and Hampton.

The investigation revealed that a physical altercation happened between two groups of people during which time, a 30-year-old woman battered a 13-year-old girl.

Shots were then fired by an unknown individual and the 30-year-old woman was struck.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor gunshot wound and subsequently arrested for child abuse.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Milwaukee Police are searching for the shooting suspect.
