MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee police have identified a 45-year-old woman who was fatally shot near 13th and Orchard Sunday night, October 6.
Home surveillance obtained by CBS 58 captured the moment a car stopped in the middle of the road, and continued through an intersection before stopping along a curb.
“They hear gunshots here all the time,” says Lian Yang, whose family security system captured the incident. “It’s either people shooting at each other, shooting at buildings, or it’s just random shootings.”
The gunshots rang out early Sunday morning outside of Lian Yang’s home on 13th and Orchard.
“It was a white Buick that pulled up right there in front of my house, and we zoomed in and he was brutally beating her,” explained Yang. “I guess she lost consciousness. Her car rolled onto the other side of the street. That’s when he got out. He ran up to the car and just shot her.”
Milwaukee police say they’re investigating the incident as a homicide. They say it was around 6 a.m. on Sunday when the shots rang out, killing out 45-year-old Debra Casey on the city’s south side.
“I was actually shook,” says Yang. “After that I couldn’t sleep at all.”
The family says they’ve installed security cameras for their own protection, but also to help police.
“I’ve had police come into my house multiple times to look for footage because of our cameras," said Yang. “We’ve had our mail stolen or crazy gunshots like what happened and we want to help the police out too.”
Police are still looking for a suspect. They wouldn’t confirm if this is a domestic abuse case, but they simply said it’s an active and ongoing investigation.
