Police: 62-year-old man arrested after barricading himself in apartment, claiming to be armed

SOUTH MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 62-year-old man has been taken into custody after barricading himself in his apartment while claiming to be armed.

South Milwaukee Police were notified of a man walking in the hallways at 2825 South Chicago Avenue, armed with a rifle and wearing body armor and a helmet.

Police responded to the scene on Tuesday afternoon where they learned that the 62-year-old man had barricaded himself in his apartment, claiming to be armed with several guns.

The South Shore Joint Tactical Unit responded to the scene.  After talking to the subject on the phone, he eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident. 

No one was injured in this incident.

The case continues to be investigated and will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.
