Police investigate critical incident at Kenosha County Jail

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Pleasant Prairie police are investigating a critical incident while taking a prisoner to the Kenosha County Jail.

It happened near Sheridan Road at 54th Street.

Police say an adult male was arrested for related offenses. 

During the drive to the jail, police say they heard a gunshot from the back seat prisoner portion of the squad car.

Initial investigation indicates that the suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a concealed weapon not located in the initial search by police. 

Police say the incident is over and there is no threat to the community.
