MPD: Suspect being sought after sexual assault at MATC

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department issued an update to the Thursday report of sexual assault at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

According to MPD's release, the sexual assault took place on Thursday at around 1:45 p.m. near 7th and State. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

An unknown suspect is being sought, with Milwaukee police describing him as a Black man with short dreadlocks, wearing white shoes and a white shirt. MATC reported on Thursday that the suspect and victim are both believed to be students at the school.

MATC is also offering counseling to victims or other people in the MATC community, free of charge, with those who are interested asked to email [email protected].


MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A sexual assault was reported to the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5. 

According to MATC, Public Safety identified a person of interest, and the individual is cooperating. The individual is being referred to the Milwaukee Police Department, who is leading the investigation. 

MATC says both the person of interest and the victim are believed to be MATC students. 

In a statement, the school said, in part:

"The college takes this matter seriously. The safety of students and employees is our highest priority."

MATC also shared safety resources with staff today.
