New Berlin PD: Police squad damaged, firearm recovered after pursuit

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- New Berlin police were alerted by Milwaukee police to a stolen vehicle taken in an armed carjacking on Friday, Nov. 29. 

New Berlin police attempted to stop the vehicle near Sunny Slope and Fieldpointe. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated and tried to flee. Police say they deployed a tire deflation device and used a maneuver tactic, causing the vehicle to stop near Cardinal Crest and Wilson in Brookfield.  

Police say at least two suspects fled from the vehicle. A firearm was recovered, and no officers were injured. Police say there was damage to the suspect vehicle and one squad car. 

They say no suspects are in custody at this time, and the case remains under investigation.
