MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Prairie Farms Dairy made a large donation to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 26.

In celebration of June Dairy Month, four pallets of lactose-free milk, equivalent to nearly 14,000 servings, were given to the organization that operations with the goal of working to end hunger.

A spokesperson for Feeding America recognized the importance of the donation, saying that the biggest struggle for many families is finding dairy that is both nutritious and affordable.

"Dairy is one of the top requested products. It's one of your most expensive products for families to be able to afford for the household," said Aaron Rice of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. "So, gifts like this are always highly requested. The more of these types of items that we can get in, the better off we are."

This stop was just one of many for Prairie Farms, as they will be making dairy donations to 40 Feeding America locations across the Midwest and South.
