Public Service Commission hosts public hearing session as We Energies looks to increase rates by 14%
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Public Service Commission (PSC) hosted a public hearing session with state leaders in Milwaukee Tuesday, Sept. 1, as We Energies looks to raise rates for the next two years.
We Energies is looking to increase rates by 14%, or more than $13 per month, starting next year.
The company says the rate increases will help cover new solar, wind, battery storage and natural gas projects.
Local groups gathered at Zeidler Park Tuesday to protest the hikes. They say they don't need another bill going up after years of inflation.
"This is where we need to step in and confront our legislators and demand they put in a 2% rate cap bill which will relieve Wisconsinites," one person said.
There was another meeting with We Energies and the power authority open to public comment Tuesday night.
