WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A police pursuit of a stolen vehicle out of Chicago, ended in a fiery crash in Waukesha on Sunday, Jan. 15.
According to the Waukesha Police Department, shortly after 1 a.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on East Moreland Boulevard, near Frame Park. The driver did not pull over and fled the area.
Officials say the vehicle drove recklessly through neighborhoods before losing control and crashing into the side of the Spring City Crossing apartment complex on White Rock Avenue. The vehicle then started on fire.
According to police, officers arrested three male suspects from the vehicle, ages 18, 21, and 30.
The apartment building was evacuated due to smoke inside the building. The fire was extinguished, and smoke removed from the building.
The damage to property is estimated at $20,000.
The three suspects were taken to a local hospital.
One officer suffered a laceration to his arm while removing the suspects from the burning vehicle.
No other injuries were reported.
