BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- "We are very happy to contribute $5,000 to this incredible effort to TLC, maintaining the fabric of our community."
That big donation goes to the Transitional Living Center (TLC) in Burlington.
The staff there work with homeless people in western Racine County, and it's work that has been complicated by COVID-19.
"We weren't allowed to operate at full capacity," said TLC Executive Director Cristen Chaffee. "And so that expense has been quite hefty for us."
"Wisconsinites step up all across the board on a regular basis, " said Rep. Robin Vos. "But here's an example. Private citizens 30 years ago said we want to deal with the homeless problem. Even in a place that you might not think has an issue, it's everywhere."
Monday's donation comes from WCA Services, a company run by the Wisconsin Counties Association.
