Racine County man arrested after freeing minivan from tow truck as it was being repossessed

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Kansasville man is now charged, accused of damaging property as he drove his minivan off the tow truck as it was being repossessed.

Deputies were called out to Dover Line Road in Kansasville for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Police made contact with a tow truck driver who said he was there to repossess a vehicle. After loading the minivan onto the tow truck, the suspect allegedly came out of the house with keys and got inside the minivan to drive it off the truck's lift.

The tow truck driver told deputies that when the suspect reversed off the lift, he caused damage to the tow truck.

The suspect then allegedly fled the scene in the minivan, returning later in a different truck. When asked about the whereabouts of the minivan, the suspect said that he didn't want to say where it was.
