Racine Habitat for Humanity's 'Women Build Week' to enlist over 100 volunteers 🛠️
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine Habitat for Humanity gears up for its third annual "Women Build Week" from Monday, July 31 to Friday, Aug. 4.
The event, expected to draw over 100 women volunteers, focuses on constructing affordable homes for low-income families and highlighting housing inequality issues.
Participating volunteers, including individuals from CNH Industrial, Burn Boot Camp, Merz, InSinkErator and Reed Switch Developers, will engage in morning and afternoon shifts throughout the week.
Rex Hamilton, Director of Development & Communications at Racine Habitat, highlighted the event's growth and the community's engagement in a Monday, July 24 press release.
"To witness 100 women from all over Racine County empowered to build affordable homes is exciting. Our community is filled with strong, caring women leading the way towards a safer Racine."
Volunteers will be tasked with advancing the construction of a new home on the 1400 block of Villa St. in Racine. Projects include installing the sub-floor, raising exterior walls and interior wall framing.
