Jacob Kittilstad invited two people onto the program who know Ricardo Fierro - the 39-year-old Racine resident who was detained by ICE one month ago. Currently, the father of seven is being held in Illinois and faces possible deportation to Mexico. Supporters say Fierro first entered the U.S. at age 16 and has been involved in immigrants’ rights groups for a large part of his adult life – communication with the Racine Mayor’s office, RUSD, and the county. Many elected officials have written letters expressing their support for his release on bond. One activist told Jacob that Racine’s Latino community feels that it is “under attack” and that authorities with ICE have increased enforcement in the region more than in the past. Wisconsinites – if you can believe it – are low-key monsters when it comes to the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships. A good example of the phenomenon is Cotie Holbek – a 24-year-old Burlington man who won the “regular singles” event in 2018 with a score of 804 (three consecutive games: 278, 278 and 246). He tells Jacob about the experience in Syracuse, New York and even lugs the game ball to the studio to show it off. He currently works at Towne & Country Lanes in Burlington. The Wisconsin State Fair is behind us and Jacob welcomed two members of the Racine County 4-H to the studio to show-off what they’re been working on. That included a Lego project which won a Merit Award for automating a tiny version of Plinko. Click here to learn how to get involved in 4-H

Another member of Racine County 4-H described her journey from infancy to adulthood within the program. Her most recent interests have involved photography and quilting – both making appearances in fair competitions in the past few years. Click here to learn how to get involved in 4-H
