Racine police respond to barricaded subject near Spring and State Streets
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine officials responded to a standoff incident in the area of Spring and State Streets in Racine on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
According to police, there was a barricaded subject who shot off several rounds in the area.
Police asked citizens to avoid the area.
John Paul II Academy and Lutheran School were placed on a soft lockdown.
Police said about 7:45 p.m. -- after about seven hours of negotiations and attempts to have the suspect surrender -- the situation was resolved peacefully and the subject was taken into custody.
The suspect is being held at the Racine County Jail on multiple felony charges including Recklessly Endangering Safety, Burglary while Armed and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
No citizens, officers, nor the suspect were injured.
