Racine Unified School District employee arrested on child pornography charges

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office says they've arrested a man who worked at a school, for possessing thousands of illegal images of children.

The sheriff's office says 27-year-old Nicholas Wotnoske is facing 15 counts of possession of child porn and 15 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

They say K-9 officer Stella led them to electronic storage devices at his home that contained more than 44,000 illegal images.

Wotnoske worked as a second shift custodial engineer with the Racine Unified School District at the time of the arrest.

He's being held at the Racine County Jail on a cash bail of $937,500.

In a statement Tuesday, the Racine Unified School District, said:

"We were extremely concerned to learn of these charges. Mr. Wotnoske is currently on unpaid administrative leave from RUSD. He was hired by the district in 2021 and most recently worked as a second-shift engineer. We have not had any complaints regarding this employee."
