MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Whether you ask for a "bag" in a way that rhymes with "vague" or you say it like, well, "bag," folks in Milwaukee will generally be nice to you about it!

Milwaukee has been named the friendliest city in the United States, according to a recent study.

The study was released Thursday, Oct. 3 by online casino Betway, analyzing 30 of North America’s most popular cities based on happiness, positive sentiment, volunteer rates and charitable donations.

Milwaukee topped the list with 65.8% of residents making charitable donations and nearly 45% volunteering. The city recorded a happiness score of 53.61 and a positive sentiment rate of 19%, surpassing cities like Boston, Seattle and San Francisco.

Baltimore and Indianapolis ranked second and third, respectively. Baltimore had the highest charitable donation rate at 69.8%, while Indianapolis showed strong community engagement with a 43.3% volunteer rate.

So, whether you say "milk" or "melk," the study seems to show that your request will be met with kindness and some cheer.
