Relief from the Heat and Humidity

It's been quite the warm stretch lately. Take a look:

This 4th of July came with 90 degree heat and feels-like temps around 100°. Mother Nature also provided some of her own holiday fireworks in the sultry air mass. The storms provided plenty of lightning and heavy downpours. Here's a look at some of the rain totals across the area.

Today we braced for the possibility of more storms along the passage of a cold front. However, other than some clouds and an isolated sprinkle, we have stayed dry. The cold front is now pushing into Illinois.
This leaves us not only with a dry evening, but finally, some relief from the heat and humidity. After a string of days with dew points in the 70s, those numbers will drop to the 40s to low 50s tomorrow. Additionally, highs will only reach the middle 70s.
You can see the upcoming weekend will start to build in some humidity, but will remain in the comfortable zone. Weekend highs should top out in the lower 80s with plenty of sun both days. Enjoy it!
