Report: Brewers OF Garrett Mitchell's season in jeopardy after MRI reveals significant labrum damage

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell's season is in jeopardy after an MRI today revealed significant damage to his labrum.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said surgery is 'likely'.

Mitchell got hurt after a head-first slide into third base in the 10th inning.

According to reports, Joey Wiemer will see a lot of time in center field in Mitchell's absence.

The Brewers also have Sal Frelick that was just added to the injured List (IL) for the Nashville Sounds with a thumb injury.

Mitchell was batting .259 with three home runs, six RBIs and a .772 OPS before going down with an injury.

The Brewers also called up Blake Perkins in the absence of Mitchell, who will be making his MLB debut at 26 years old.

Perkins had a .292 batting average, one home run, three RBIs and a .787 OPS prior to being called up from Nashville.
