Reports: Brewers bring back Lorenzo Cain

In an incredibly busy day, the Brewers have reportedly signed outfielder Lorenzo Cain to a five year, $80 million deal pending a physical.

Cain came up in the Brewers organization and showed tremendous promise as a center fielder before being included in a trade with the Royals in the 2010-11 offseason. That trade brought star pitcher Zack Greinke to Milwaukee, but Cain and Alcides Escobar won the 2015 World Series in Kansas City.

Cain hit .300 for the Royals last year, with 15 home runs and 26 stolen bases. He had reportedly gotten four-year offers from several teams, so the Brewers' inclusion of a fifth year likely paved the way for the pending agreement.

Earlier Thursday, Brewers general manager David Stearns pulled the trigger on a massive trade, acquiring outfielder Christian Yelich from the Marlins for four players, including top prospect Lewis Brinson.
