MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Last year, we heard a lot about Irpin, Milwaukee's sister city in Ukraine. But did you know what Milwaukee has six sister cities?

On Wednesday, representatives from those cities were featured at a meet and greet event at City Hall.

For three hours, the public was invited to come to City Hall and learn about Milwaukee's sister cities in Ireland, Croatia, Kenya, Tanzania and more.

Alderman Russell Stamper is chairman of the Sister Cities Committee. He believes these relationships allow Milwaukee to make international connections and network with other countries.

"All cities and countries need assistance, and so does Milwaukee, and we can benefit each other culturally and educational and economically," Ald. Stamper said. "We will, and we have, so that's what we're continuing to do."

You may remember last year, when Irpin, Ukraine came under Russian attack, Milwaukee's Common Council voted to send body armor and other protective equipment to its sister city.

Wednesday's meet and greet included culturally diverse entertainment and food.
