MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 400 media organizations got a sneak peek of the layout at Fiserv Forum for next year's Republican National Convention on Thursday.

RNC officials called it a "rough draft" of what to expect in July when more than 50,000 people are anticipated to come to Milwaukee for the convention.

Welcome banners placed across the arena and red and blue curtains outlined where stages will be built for candidate speeches and media space.

Some logistics are still being finalized, but it was the first glimpse of what people across the world will see when delegates select their nominee.

Those involved in making sure the event runs smoothly credited the City of Milwaukee for their help and hospitality along the way in planning the four day event.

"As a lifelong Republican, it is important that we leave Milwaukee better than we found it," said Anne Hathaway, chair of the Committee on Arrangements.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Milwaukee Host Committee, said he's confident the convention will be a success under the leadership of Hathaway and many others.

"They have a great team here that really understands what it takes to put on a convention," Priebus said.

While the convention is being held in a Democratic city, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said his role is to ensure regardless of political party, the city reaps the benefits.

"I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm not a Republican," Johnson said. "In fact, I'm a proud Democrat, but that means my role here is different. I'm not here in any political capacity. I'm here because my goal is hosting a convention that brings attention to Milwaukee."

Fiserv Forum is where the main stage will be for delegates to hear speeches from candidates. UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and the Baird Center will also play a role as a hub for local, national, media and other events for delegates.

The convention will take place July 15-18th.
