PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- During her visit across the state of Wisconsin this week, Senator Tammy Baldwin (D) spent Friday morning, Aug. 4 at a facility in Port Washington, learning about innovative solutions for renewable energy.
Arizona Senator Mark Kelly (D) also joined the tour of at Badger Technology Group, a "high-tech engineering company working on renewable energy, aerospace, and aviation engineering," a news release said.
The local small business also partners with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the U.S. Air Force, to research and develop answers regarding energy storage.
Sen. Baldwin has previously supported the federal investments through the Department of Defense which helps the company partner with the school and military.
"Having a pipeline for folks who are interested in these topics who are studying at UWM, to be able to have a part of this innovation and maybe career paths to follow so the synergy here is really exciting," Sen. Baldwin told CBS 58.
Sen. Baldwin continued on to add that being able to play a role in supporting some of these agencies funding initiatives is important for innovation, and ultimately, commercialization.
