MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Family and friends gathered Saturday at the crash site near 92nd and Hampton to remember 21-year-old Iyanah Pryor, who was hit and killed while walking to a bus stop.

Balloons rose into the sky as loved ones left flowers and shared memories of Pryor, who they say touched the lives of those around her.

“I am so relieved how beautiful it turned out that so many people showed up just from knowing her for two years here. It was amazing and so beautiful, and I know she’s up there smiling,” Pryor’s friend Lashawnda Green said.

Green said Pryor encouraged those around her to be their best.

“She pushed you to be great, and she’ll walk with you through every step. She was a really nice and beautiful person,” Green said.

Pryor was walking to a bus stop just before 6 a.m. Tuesday to go to work when police say a 34-year-old driver hit her near 92nd and Hampton.

Pryor died at the scene. Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Pryor’s boyfriend, Jalen Usher, said he learned about her death while he was at work.

“I found out the news when I was at work, and I’ve been broken. I haven't been able to go to work for the last couple days. It hurts. She was my best friend,” Usher said.

Her family said Pryor moved to Milwaukee nearly two years ago and was a devoted mother to her 2-year-old daughter.

Her friends said they will carry her memory with them.

“She kept me motivated and to keep pushing. I really love her, and I’m going to miss her. We had great memories, and I’m sad we can’t continue to make them,” Pryor’s best friend, Tyrielle Brister, said.

As loved ones gathered at the crash site, Green had one final message for her friend.

“We love you, Yana. I’m so sorry this happened to you,” Green said.
