Woman, dog killed in Sheboygan house fire
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities say a woman and dog have died following a house fire in Sheboygan Thursday morning, Dec. 29.
Police arrived at the scene near 17th Street and Alabama Avenue around 7:30 a.m. and found the porch fully engulfed, with fire spreading to the home.
Fire crews extinguished the fire while performing a search due to reports that there were still occupants inside.
Officials say a man on the second floor heard the smoke alarm and was able to escape the building through the back door, however he was unable to find his wife and their dog.
He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Fire crews found both the wife and dog deceased on the first floor, where the fire was originally reported.
The fire is currently under investigation.
