Sheboygan man arrested after jumping out of 8th floor window during fight
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. Sheboygan County Dispatch got a 911 call of a large fight on the 6th floor near the elevator of a building on Water Street.
Multiple units responded and discovered that a 50-year-old Sheboygan man jumped out of an 8th floor window. The man hit a large tree during the fall before landing on the ground. He survived the fall but was airlifted with serious injuries.
After an investigation, officers learned that the man was a suspect in a domestic violence incident with a former girlfriend that happened on the 6th floor. A man tried to stop the suspect from strangling and beating the woman resulting in a fight. During the fight the suspect tried to jump out of the 6th floor elevator lobby window but was pulled inside by the man he was fighting. The suspect eventually went to the stairwell where he went up two flights of stairs, removed a screen and jumped out.
Officials believe the suspect was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was also involved in two hit-and-run accidents before the fight.
