Sheriff's office: 3 severely injured after head-on crash in Port Washington
OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash that injured three people on Friday, Dec. 20.
It happened in the town of Port Washington around 8:47 p.m., on Sunset Rd, east of Northwoods Rd.
The sheriff's office says the initial investigation showed that a Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound on Sunset Rd, when it crossed over to the westbound lane and hit a Toyota Rav4 head on, traveling westbound.
Authorities say the Honda CR-V was driven by a 17-year-old male from Port Washington. The 17-year-old received severe injuries and was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.
The Toyota Rav4 was driven by a 43-year-old from Port Washington, identified as Shawn Greenly. The passenger of the vehicle was a 32-year-old from Port Washington, identified as Stephanie Sternig. Both occupants of the vehicle were trapped inside and were extracted by fire personnel.
The sheriff's office says the driver received life threatening injuries and was also transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital. The passenger received severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The sheriff's office says deviating from designated lane and speed appear to be factors that contributed to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
