South Side Purse Robbery Victim helps Capture Suspect
The victim of a strong-armed purse robbery on the South Side helped Milwaukee Police Department arrest the suspect.
District Two officers responded to the 700 block of W. Historic Mitchell Street just before 2:00 PM on October 9 for a report of a strong-armed robbery.
The victim, a 44-year-old Milwaukee woman, told officers an unknown woman approached her and grabbed her purse before fleeing on foot. The victim saw the suspect run into a nearby apartment building and alerted police.
Responding officers knocked on the doors of the building and were able to find the suspect, a 33-year-old Milwaukee woman, inside one of the apartments along with the victim’s purse. The suspect was taken into custody and she confessed to police her involvement in the crime.
