SS Badger car ferry plans to stop using coal in effort to go green

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- The SS Badger car ferry is going green. 

Lake Michigan Car Ferry says the steam ship will stop using coal once the company decides on an alternate power source.

There's no timeline for when that could be.

Three weeks ago, the SS Badger made its first trip to Manitowoc from Ludington, Michigan. 

The ship can take 600 passengers and 180 vehicles across Lake Michigan.
