MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A roundtable was held Wednesday with a Milwaukee Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity.
Part of its goal is to help the region meet the United Nation's benchmarks for preventing climate change.
Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes says this is a chance for the state to take a stand on the global stage.
"This is just a really exciting time for us as a state," said Lt. Gov. Barnes. "It's an important time for us as a nation. And a planet, because we only get one. And you look at all the attention, and pun intended, the energy that's put into this movement, we have a real opportunity to become a national, if not global leader."
The roundtable follows worldwide youth climate strikes.
