MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's quiet in Milwaukee after the last Summerfest weekend, but there are still events keeping families busy.

"This park is so beautiful it's right on the lake, it has a beautiful view of the city and there's so much to do there," said David Wenstrup, President of the Board of Directors at Lakeshore State Park.

On Sunday, July 7, Lakeshore State Park hosted its 3rd Annual Brunch on the Beach. Wenstrup said they hold this event to encourage more people to explore the park.

"A lot of people don't know that this is a state park, so that's part of what we're doing is to get the awareness out of what we have here," said Wenstrup.

Families enjoyed food trucks, kites, and of course the quiet beauty of Lake Michigan.

"We really want to connect people from Milwaukee to nature," Wenstrup explained.

And just across the lagoon, kids were having their version of Summerfest.

"Our little one is getting fairy hair right now, but we came here on the promise of face paint and usually acrobats and bubbles," said parents Sam and Nikki Englebert.

Sunday Family Fun Day happens four times throughout the summer, Kevin Canady with Summerfest says this Sunday's theme was health and wellness.

"We've got the Aurora Kids Fit Challenge which is a series of 12 different fitness activities that kids can do for a prize when they complete all 12," Kevin Canady, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Summerfest.
