29-year-old suspect charged for threatening Burlington Area School District on social media

BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Burlington police say a suspect has been charged with multiple counts for making threatening Facebook posts toward the Burlington School District.

According to the criminal complaint, the suspect, 29-year-old Kyle Jean Johnson, made social media posts that threatened to cause the death or bodily harm to any person, or damage any person's property. He was charged with Terrorist Threats.

Police say Johnson was also charged with one count of Computer Message-Threaten/Injury or Harm and one count of Disorderly Conduct.

Police increased their presence around schools on Thursday.


BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Burlington police say a suspect was arrested Wednesday after allegedly making a threatening Facebook post directed toward the Burlington Area School District.

They say the message, posted on Monday, Jan. 30, did not mention a specific school, student or district official. 

As a precaution, there was a heightened police presence at area schools Wednesday while an investigation was completed. 

The police department says the author of the post was identified and taken into custody without incident. 

No Burlington area functions or activities were affected. 

Police say the incident is believed to be isolated, and no further threats have been identified.
