Suspect arrested after fatal vehicle crash near 27th and Locust
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Friday, May 3.
It happened around 9:18 p.m. near 27th and Locust.
According to police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle with a stolen plate when the vehicle drove away. The subject vehicle ran a red light, striking a van traveling west on Locust. This caused the van to roll over, striking a third vehicle. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot. Police say the 25-year-old male suspect was arrested after a foot pursuit.
A gun was recovered from the suspect vehicle. The 25-year-old passenger was conveyed to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
The passenger of the roll over vehicle was pronounced deceased. Police say the identity is pending.
The other 57-year-old passenger and the 49-year-old passenger were conveyed to a local hospital and are expected to survive. Police say the 49-year-old is in serious condition, and the 49-year-old is stable.
The driver of the third vehicle was a 34-year-oldcand was carrying two passengers of the ages six and eight. They were treated on scene.
Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
