Suspect wanted in homicide of Milwaukee transgender woman arrested in Menasha

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Authorities say a Milwaukee homicide suspect wanted in the murder of a transgender woman was arrested following a short pursuit Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The 33-year-old Neenah man was arrested in Menasha in connection to the homicide of Cashay Henderson, who was found with a gunshot wound at the scene of an apartment fire Sunday, Feb. 26.

Officers with the Neenah Police Department initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, requesting assistance from Menasha police and the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department.

Police say the driver fled into the city of Menasha on Washington Street at Nicolet Boulevard, and Menasha police deployed stop sticks.

Authorities say a successful PIT maneuver was performed in the 600 block of Appleton Road, at which point the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot.

A Winnebago County K-9 was deployed, but the suspect continued to resist until officers deployed a Taser and took the suspect into custody.

Police say a handgun and other evidence was recovered from the suspect, who was turned over to the Milwaukee Police Department.

Menasha police have referred charges of felony fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing an officer to the Winnebago County District Attorney's Office.
