MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sweetgreen has extended its Midwest footprint, opening its first Wisconsin location in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward neighborhood.
Jonathan Neman, Co-Founder and CEO of Sweetgreen, spoke about the city's "immense pride," and "dedication to innovation" as enticing characteristics for the brand's expansion in a recent press release.
The restaurant officially opened its doors on Tuesday, July 18 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. An additional celebration is planned for Saturday, July 22, in honor of Sweetgreen's debut in Wisconsin.
Serving its selection of salads, warm bowls and seasonal dishes, Sweetgreen's Milwaukee location will operate daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 300 East Buffalo St. The space can host up to 33 diners indoors and an additional 18 on the patio.
Neman also expressed enthusiasm about the company's alliance with Hunger Task Force, a Milwaukee-based food bank. For each meal sold on opening day, Sweetgreen pledged a meal donation to aid local families facing food insecurity.
The company also took time to discuss a benefit those unfamiliar with Sweetgreen can benefit from, Sweetpass, their loyalty program. Accessible through the Sweetgreen app or website, the program offers a range of rewards, new menu previews and merchandise access.
