LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- By now, you've likely heard of the rare double cicada emergence happening across parts of the U.S. Illinois is seeing the bugs hatch twice as much as a normal 13-to-17-year event. In Lake Geneva, there is only one brood hatching, but they're still filling trees, sidewalks and fences. 

"They're everywhere, I don't know if they're all out yet," said Scott Hintz. 

The most covered area may very well be along Maxwell Street. Places like Pioneer cemetery are filled with them, and if you listen, you'll hear it's not just the birds chirping. 

"We hear them," said Joy Irussi. "You have to know what you're looking for to hear it."
